Treatment: Proposal for music video

'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' Futures

Synopsis:

The lyrics: The song is about, a boy who is trying to get a girl and will doing anything to her. He explains the way he will change anything to get her and the ways in which he tries to get noticed. But the boy has a bad reputation, and knows he doesn't have a chance whatever he does, because he has done bad things before. Hence the name of the song 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf'.

Storyline and Characteristic: To show the meaning of these lyrics our proposed storyline for our video is the singer from the band being the 'Boy Who Cried Wolf' trying to get close to the girl, but something always gets in his way. For example, a group of people will all be at a party together and the boy will walk over to talk to her, but someone else will beat her to it.

Characters: Main band member/singer-Ben Girl singer in story- Harriet

Place and Setting: Our performance part of the video will be set in a wood in Eardiston. The band will be playing their instruments and singing the song. The concept part of the video will be recorded in everyday situations, such as at a bus stop, at a party and in the woods.

Length: The duration of the song is 3:10.

Format:Mini DVD and editing using final cut express.
Style:
Genre, Mood, influences, claims to originality: The genre of the song is pop punk. Our influences for our video come from the lyrics in the song. We also analysed three other similar bands to get some idea's for our video. The video of 'Stay With Me' You Me At Six, influenced us on the types of shots we should use when filming the band. For example, close ups on the instruments.

Camera work: (types of shots) The edits in our video will be fast pace especially on the chorus of the song. We will have various close ups in the performance part of the song of the musical instruments, such as the the drums guitars and the lead vocalists. The narrative part of the song will be telling a story so the use of long shots could be more effective, to get a sense of the notion of looking.

Movement and action: In the woods where we will video the performance part, we will also film the girl walking through the woods and then as the boy looks she will disappear as if he is imagining it. When the band are performing we will use an effect of the camera circling around them as if wolves are stalking them.

Visual qualities: We won't use any special lighting but we will use natural sunlight for our video. We will use the tree's in the woods as a frame within a frame to make the shots more complex.

Handling of narrative: The narrative of out video will be linear. Because it is about a typical love story of whether the boy and the girl will get together there is an enigma throughout the video.

Target Audience: Our video will be aimed at young adults and teenagers. Who like this genre of music. (Pop Punk)
