The lyrics throughout the song are often illustrated by the visuals. The girl in the video is dressed in white and has white hair, this makes you think of her as the ghost and plays on the lyrics. She also appears out of nowhere at the very start of the video, this adds to the effect. The lyrics 'to make this world seem a better place if only for ourselves' are enhanced by the visuals as the couple are the only two people in the non-performance part of the video. It portrays the picture that they make each other happy and that is the only way that there world is better, if it was just them on their own with nobody to mess it up. Another significant point in the lyrics/video is 'because I had a rope around my waist leading me in the right direction' at this point the girl wraps her arms around the lead singers waist and then leads him away. This enhances the idea that she is good for him.
The pace of the music dictates the speed at which the video is cut, the video changes pace as the music changes pace. At the more dramatic and fast parts of the song the camera turns to mainly the band performance. The video straights cuts on the beat of the music to match the pace in the song. There is a lot of camera movement, for example tracking which is particularly used during the performance parts. The girl skips in time with the music at the start. In the slower more intense parts of the songs, it is the couple together, with the lead singer singing to the girl, which is very intimate. However at the faster more exciting parts of the song it is mainly the band performing. Where there are instrumental solo's illustrated by the video at 2.28. There are lots of close ups of the band playing their instruments. At 0.43 in the song the boy from the couple, jumps off a wall in time with the beat of the song then it cuts to the band performance for the chorus of the song. A significant part in the video is when it cuts from the girl sitting on her own, looking up in the sky to the boy doing the same. it is like they are lost withoutout eachother, whenshe glances usp to the sky, it makes us think of the ghosts. The music is eerie at this point in the song, it portrays the idea that they have lost each other and that they are ghosts to each other.
The lead singer in this band is the main focus. He is in the performance part of the video as well as the narrative part. There are lots of close ups of him on his own, as well as him being affectionate to the girl in the video. There are also shots of him singing straight to the camera like he is singing personally to you. This would make girls look at the video and fantasize about him looking after her.
The colour red flashes across the screen throughout the video, which plays on the idea of the supernatural beings. This theme carries on through the clothes that they are wearing, the boy in the performance part is wearing a red stripey top, the girl has a red flower in her hair and the lampposts are red in the scenery. The girl in the video is attractive to boys, she is sweet and innocent. It gives men something to look at.

There is a reference to the notion of looking through the use of the camera. At one part the male steals it from the female and she tries to get it back by running after him. The shot then flicks to just her, from the boys perspective like he is looking at her through the camera at her.
